PVL 2009
Brisbane Vollyball Club is planning to enter teams in all divisions of Premier Volleyball League (PVL) gain in 2009. PVL is the highest level of Volleyball played on a weekly basis in South East Queensland. The following information outlines details about the upcoming 2009 competition:
- Dates: April 3rd – August 28th 2009 – Friday Nights
- Venue: The Sports Centre, Boondall Entertainment Centre

QAS Trials
The Queensland Academy of Sport will be holding trials for the 2009-2010 National Intensive Training Centre Volleyball Program in early March 2009. For more information, please see the Volleyball Queensland website www.qva.org.au

GOLD GOLD GOLD TO BVC
9 09 2008In its third year of life Brisbane Volleyball Club came so close to scooping the pool in Premier League.
The three teams competing in the finals last Friday night all came away with the gold medal.
Reserve Women defeated Dragons in a five setter.
The A Grade Men defeated UQ in four sets.
The A Grade Women came back from being 2 sets down and facing match point to win in five sets.
This is a great result for the young club with a very bright future.
Congratulations to the players and coaches from all four club PVL teams, and a special thankyou to Kathy Ryder for keeping the club ahead of the debt collector.
News on the 2009 season will be up in a few weeks but the club is looking at fielding at least four teams in next years PVL, with special membership fees for current members who commit to the club for the next season.

PVL Grand Finals
3 09 2008BVC has had a great year with three of the four teams competing for gold in this friday’s PVL Finals Series.
Reserve Women play Dragons at 7.30 and then duty our A Grade Women who are also playing Dragons for gold.
Our A Grade Men duty at 7.30 and play against UQ for gold.
Good luck to all the teams for this friday night.

PVL Quarter Finals
21 08 2008With the regular season finishing, PVL moves into the finals series with the Quarter Finals kicking off this week. All our BVC teams have a chance for playing for a medal on Grand Final night, with the A Grade Mens and Womens in the best position, having both finished top of the ladder. Quarter Final game details are below. Good Luck to all our teams.
- Reserve Men playing at 7.30 against Norths in 5th v 6th playoff. Winner goes through to next week with the chance to play off for Bronze the following week the following week.
- Reserve Women playing at 7.30 against Norths in 3rd v 4th. Winner goes through to play the loser of 1st v 2nd next week for the chance to play off for Gold the following week.
- A Grade Men, having finished on top of the ladder play UQ at 9.00pm with the winner going straight into the final in a fortnight.
- A Grade Women, having finished on top of the ladder play Easts at 9.00pm with the winner going straight through into the final in a fortnight.

Seeking Player’s EOI – 2008 Men’s AVL Team (Queensland Pirates)
7 08 2008Volleyball Queensland (VQ) and the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) are planning to enter a team in the 2008 Men’s AVL competition under the name Queensland Pirates. We are now seeking “Expressions of Interest” from any registered Queensland players to be part of the Queensland Pirates squad.
All enquiries regarding dates, costs and training arrangements should be directed to Dan Ilott, QAS Head Coach on 0408 806 231. Players nominations should be forwarded in writing to Dan Ilott via email at dan.ilott@srq.qld.gov.au before 11.59pm on Friday 15 August 2008.
Open Trials for the Squad will be held during the next 3 weeks, with trainings taking place on Monday and Wednesday evenings at QSAC, QEII Stadium, Kessels Road, Nathan. Training times are 7.15pm – 9.30pm. For further details contact Dan.
A training squad of approximately 24 Athletes will be selected at the end of August to form the basis of the Queensland Pirates Men’s AVL Squad for the 2008 AVL Season. Successful team members will be expected to train 2-4 times per week with the squad on Monday, Wed nights, some Saturday afternoons and Friday evenings after PVL finishes.

Calling for Volunteers – 25th Anniversary AVSC
7 08 2008Volleyball Australia is calling for Volunteers to help out at this year’s Australian Schools Cup in Melbourne. Please follow the link to find an INVITATION FOR VOLUNTEERS to join the workforce. This year they need at least 45 personnel across the full range of volleyball and general roles. TAFE SA will be assisting with the support of approximately 20 volunteers, so the balance of volleyball experienced volunteers is what they need to fill to ensure the success of the competition-related roles. There is also the position of Operations Manager available.

PVL Round Six Clean Sweep for BVC
25 05 2008BVC teams made a clean sweep of round six, although each team had their own challenges with low player numbers. Three of the four teams fielding the bare minimum to get through.
Resereve Men won their match against Dragons in four sets and A Grade Men won their match against Norths in five sets.
Both Reserve Women (vs Norths) and A Grade Women (vs Dragons) accounted for their respective opponents in straight sets.
